The Central Marks Department-II (CMD) on February 24, 2026, issued extension of the period of concurrent running of IS 2046 : 1995 and IS 2046 (Part 1 to 8): 2025- “Decorative Thermosetting Synthetic Resin Bonded Laminated Sheets”.
The standard for Decorative Thermosetting Synthetic Resin Bonded Laminated Sheets, IS 2046, was revised from the 1995 version to IS 2046 (Parts 1–8): 2025. The original implementation deadline of September 24, 2025 had already been extended to March 24, 2026.
As the revised 2025 standard is currently not fully implementable and a draft amendment is still under circulation, authorities have allowed both the 1995 and 2025 versions to run concurrently. This ensures continuity for manufacturers and stakeholders while revisions are finalized.
Accordingly, the deadline for mandatory implementation of IS 2046 (Parts 1–8): 2025 has now been further extended to March 24, 2027.
